Welcome to my little corner of the blogosphere. Here you can find some of my adventures in amateur radio. I like to operate from home as well as in the field. I have developed a renewed interest in CW which I have come to enjoy immensely. I also like to putter around and make things for my hobbies. Most of my stuff is made with hand tools found in the average home and none of it is commercial or furniture-grade quality. Sometimes I try things as a “proof of concept”; however, if it works okay — well okay, I use it. Stop by, and enjoy the website. Nothing here is monetized. Scott, enjoyed your latest 5 park video. Your antenna setup reminds me of my own, retired 7 yrs ago outfit (Tow vehicle reached EOL after 25 years and replaced with a more gas mileage friendly car). As I was traveling about with it my main antenna was a 30′ fiberglass telescoping mast with a vertical wire suspended from the top. I bracketed the mast to the ladder on the back of the RV with U-bolts. Easy setup and take down and mounted very securely. At the base I simply attached coax with aligator ends to the vertical wire and also a ground spot on the 22′ 5th wheel which I used with an antenna tuner. That setup worked out wonderfully for me and I enjoyed many pre POTA contacts using it.

Scott/ thanks for the ICOM / Yaesu comparisons, I’m feeling pretty good about waiting.
I am curios if you find the two port speaker system useful or better?

In general, it sounds pretty good. I mostly use headphones when I am in the field. This week I hope to do an A/B test with the 705 (CW) so you should be able to judge for yourself. I will post it on my YouTube channel.
